Cardamom
Cardamom is grown in Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Tanzania, and Southern India. The spice has had a long list of historical uses, such as its oral hygienic uses among Ancient Egyptians. Cardamom holds a kind of privilege in some Middle Eastern countries. It is served in Arabic and Turkish coffees as a symbol of hospitality. It is rather expensive as far as spices go, surpassed only by saffron. In areas where it is produced it is used as a kind of chew for its flavor and stimulant properties.
